Manufactured in 1973, the CVRT Sabre EAW950 is a combat tank with a simulated fire rarden 30mm cannon and a simulated fire chain gun that’s run from calor gas and oxygen cylinders which are neatly tucked in the rear bin box. The tank was designed to be used in the most demanding environments, and also urban areas if you’re brave enough.
Sabre EAW950 Tank Running Costs
Weighing in at 8.1 tonnes, powered by a 4.2 J60 Jaguar straight six petrol engine, it should come as no surprise that the MOT exempt Sabre tank has very poor fuel economy – around 4mpg to be exact.
Eddie Hall The Beast (former professional strongman) recently acquired one which he carried out an experiment on the cost to fill up. And as you might expect, it wasn’t cheap. With a 500 litre tank capacity and current petrol prices in the UK at £2 per litre, Eddie’s total spend came to an eye-watering £1,030 to fill it. Bearing in mind that fuel stations in the UK have a 100 litre limit, so Eddie had to fill to the 100 litre limit, pay, fill to the limit, pay, fill to the limit again – several times before reaching the tanks maximum capacity.

And although they’re expensive to run, and can only be driven to 20mph on UK roads, it’s a road-legal head turner that would be great for showing off (if you can afford it).
tanks-alot.co.uk currently have the same model for sale with a £50k price tag. So if you’re pockets are deep enough, you can own something that will be a cool vehicle for the school run, prom hire or something to enjoy off-road.
