In this guide, we will provide a step-by-step process for installing a new Milltek exhaust system to your Mercedes A35 AMG. This easy-to-follow DIY process requires the right tools and is an excellent way to save money.
Additionally, if you’re not satisfied with the sound, you can always switch back to the original Mercedes exhaust. We will also compare the standard valved exhaust system with the new Milltek exhaust system, which replaces the back box with a straight pipe. This comparison will help you understand the benefits of upgrading to the Milltek exhaust system for your Mercedes A35 AMG.
Tools and equipment needed:
- Reciprocating saw/angle grinder
- Trolley jack & axle stands
- Ratchet set
- Marker pen
1. Lift your car using a trolley jack or (if you can access one) hydraulic ramp
Safely elevate your car using a trolley jack with axle stands or if you can gain access to one, a hydraulic ramp.

2. Mark and cut your original exhaust
The A35’s stock system is basically a straight pipe that runs from the catalytic convertor to the back box. Its non-resonated system means you don’t have to worry about a middle box being in the way to mark your cut line.
Get your Milltek exhaust kit assembled off the car and align it properly. Mark the area where you plan to cut and remove the rear section.

3. Add your valve blanking plug
As the new exhaust system is basically just a pipe, Milltek provides a blanking plug for the valves to avoid any lights being flagged up on your dashboard.

Step 4. Install the Milltek exhaust
And finally, bolt everything up to the original exhaust system, lower your car and enjoy the deeper tone of your A35.
