The Audi A4/A5 B8 transmission mount insert mod is a popular modification that can improve the shifting feel and overall driving experience of the car. Here’s a step-by-step guide to performing this mod:

Materials needed:

Transmission mount insert (e.g. 034 Motorsport)
10mm triple square socket
Ratchet
Torque wrench
Jack and jack stands
Wheel chocks
Penetrating oil or WD-40 & loctite (optional)

Step 1: Park the car on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Place wheel chocks on the front and rear of one of the front wheels.

Step 2: Use a jack to raise the car from the center jack point and place jack stands under the front jacking points. Lower the car onto the jack stands and ensure that the car is stable and level.

Step 3: Locate the transmission mount, which is located under the center of the car, just behind the engine. It is held in place by two bolts, one on the left, one on the right.

Step 4: If your bolts have substantial amounts of rust use a penetrating oil or WD-40 to loosen the bolts, as they can be difficult to remove due to the location and age of the car.

Step 5: Use a 10mm triple square socket and ratchet to remove the two bolts on the sides of the mount.

Note: Once the bolts are removed, you will no longer need your old transmission bracket from the car. Also, you may want to add a small amount of blue Loctite (optional) to the bolt threads at this stage.

Step 6: Take your new transmission mount insert and place it into the opening of the original mount. The insert should fit snugly into the opening. Then, with your 10mm triple square socket and torque wrench, begin to tighten the bolts to 16 ft lb (21nm).

Step 7: Test drive the car and enjoy the improved shifting feel and driving experience.

Note: Installing this mod runs the risk premature wear on other stock mounts/bushings. If you’re experiencing knocking when starting the car or driving after installation it’s probably best to revert back to stock unless you’re planning on upgrading other bushings/mounts.
