Regularly replacing your Audi TT 8S’ coil packs is essential for ensuring its optimal performance. If you notice symptoms like misfires, rough idling, or decreased power, it might be time for an ignition service and replacing your coil pack and spark plugs. Fortunately, this is a relatively simple DIY job that you can do at home, without needing to go to a professional. In this article, we’ll guide you through the process of replacing your coil packs step-by-step, providing you with all the necessary information to get the job done efficiently and effectively. So, let’s dive in and learn how to replace your coil packs and restore your vehicle’s performance to its full potential.
Step 1: Remove the 10mm ground bolts located on the top of the coils and gently move the cable back out the way.

Step 2: Then, remove the 10mm threaded bolts that secure each coil.

Step 3: Gently pull back on the electrical clips on all 4 plugs to release them from the coils. Then, carefully release each coil from its location by pulling them up straight – you should hear a satisfying pop.

Step 4: Using a 16mm magnetic spark plug socket, remove each of your spark plugs. (Remember: righty tighty, left loosey)

Step 5: With your new spark plugs (NGK being a good, common replacement) hand tighten them in first. Then, torque each one down to 30nm.

Step 6: Finally, drop your new coil packs in and reconnect the connectors, the threaded bolt and then the 10mm bolt that holds down the ground wires and you’re good to go.
