If you own a Peugeot 206 from the 1998-2001 model range and are approaching the recommended interval for spark plug and coil pack replacement, looking to enhance your vehicle’s performance, or experiencing issues such as misfires, it’s time to consider replacing the spark plugs and coil packs.
In this guide, we will walk you through a simple and easy-to-follow 5-step process to perform the spark plug and coil pack replacement at home yourself.
Tools needed:
- 10mm deep socket
- 16mm spark plug socket
- Extension bar
- Flexible joint adapter
- Torque wrench
- Screwdriver (if necessary to disconnect the breather hose)
- Safety goggles and gloves (for personal protection)
Step 1: Disconnect the breather hose from the cylinder head cover, air intake and manifold.

Step 2: Disconnect the plug at the top of the ignition coil pack.

Step 3: Using a 10mm deep socket, unscrew the bolts on either side of the coil pack unit. Then pull upwards to reveal access to the spark plugs.

Step 4: Using a 16mm spark plug socket attached to an extension bar with flexible joint adapter, remove all 4 spark plugs from each channel at an angle the spark plugs are positioned.

Step 5: With your new spark plugs, hand tighten them in first and be careful not to cross-thread it as you do. Then torque them down to 25nm (18 ftlbs) and do everything else in reverse order.
