In this guide, we’ll take you step by step through the process of replacing the battery in your 2009 Passat key fob. If you find yourself needing to get closer to your car for it to unlock or lock, it might be a sign that the battery, typically a CR 2032, is running low and needs replacing.

Step 1: Press this button to release the plastic key from the fob.

Step 2: Then remove the lower metal casing by sliding it to the right.

Step 3: Remove the back casing by gently prying with a flat head screw driver.

Step 4: With your screw driver, flick out your old battery and replace it with your new CR2032 and then do the process in reverse.
