A common problem that the majority of Audi TT MK2 owners face is the dreaded bonnet release handle snapping. It’s a huge headache when this happens but fortunately, there is a fast way of fixing this issue without having to remove any plastic trim pieces.
Tools needed:
- Electric drill
- Screw
- Pliers
- Brand new Aluminium Bonnet Release Handle or OEM plastic handle
Step 1: Drive your screw into the centre of the remaining handle.

Step 2: With your pliers, pull on the screw to release the rest of the part.

Step 3: Ensure the hole is clean of any debris and then slot your new bonnet release handle into place. You may have to give it a firm tap with your hand to lock it into place.

Note: If you intend on keeping the car for a while it may be worthwhile upgrading this to an aluminium part to prevent it from breaking again in the future. You can find it available to buy from Amazon here: Aluminium Bonnet Release Handle
