Here’s how to easily remove and replace the drivers side window switch on a MK4 golf. This is a straight-forward tutorial that anyone can do with basic tools by themselves at home.

Tools needed:

• Flat head screwdriver
• Positive screwdriver

Step 1: Gently pry this grab handle piece from its clips with a flat head screwdriver. You may be able to pull this out by hand too.

Step 2: Gently pull upwards on the entire unit to remove it from the door card. Remember to not pull too hard as the switches have an electrical connection that you will need to disconnect after this step.

Step 3: Disconnect the electrical connector by pushing down on the tab and pulling at the same time. Then remove the 3 positive screws holding the window switches in place and swap them with your new one.

Step 4: Then, simply do everything else in reverse order ensuring you test your switches work before putting everything back together fully.
