In this step-by-step guide we’ll show you how to change the air filter on a first generation Audi A4/A5 at home by yourself.
Tools needed:
- T30 torx
- Flat head screwdriver
- Vacuum/hoover
Step 1: With your flathead screwdriver, Loosen the jubilee clip on the pipe from the turbo to the air box and move it to one side.

Step 2: Gently squeeze the top and bottom of the intake pipe bellow to remove it from its plastic clips.

Step 3: Loosen all 6 T30 torx screws around the perimeter of the airbox.

Step 4: Fold the top of the air filter box out of the way, revealing the top of the air filter.

Step 5: Remove the air filter and vacuum/hoover if necessary (In this case it was necessary).

Step 6: Install your brand new filter and do everything else in reverse order.
