Here’s how to easily replace the coolant temperature sensor on a 2015 Peugeot 208 1.4 hdi. If you take your time and follow the steps below you can do this job at home on your driveway.

Tools needed:

  • 13mm socket
  • Ratchet
  • Small flat head screwdriver

Step 1: Start by removing the x2 13mm screws that hold down the air box.

Step 2: Remove the middle section of the intake pipe.

Step 3: Disconnect the MAF sensor connector and the 2 pipes (circled in red). Your flathead screwdriver will help you out doing this.

Step 4: You will now have more play with the airbox to remove the lower intake pipe much easier.

Step 5: Gently manoeuvre the airbox from the engine bay where you can then access the sensor in the location highlighted below. You may need a light but you should be able to identify the sensor by its green colour.

Step 6: twist anti-clockwise and pull the sensor out (with the connector) from the pipe. Ensure the rubber o-ring seal is still on the end of the sensor after removal.

Step 7: With your flathead screwdriver, push down on connector tab (circled in red) and pull at the same time to remove the connector from the sensor.

Step 8: Plug in your brand new sensor (part number: 9802935980) and do everything else in reverse order.
