If you’re having trouble trying to start your MK7 Ford Fiesta, it may be time for a new battery. In this easy to follow guide we will walk you through the process of doing this at home with some basic tools.
Tools needed:
Step 1: Disconnect the negative terminal FIRST by loosening the 10mm bolt and pulling it from the terminal.

Step 2: Lift up the plastic cover on your positive terminal and do the same for this as well. Please ensure you position it safely so that it DOESN’T touch the negative terminal at any point.

Step 3: Remove the x2 10mm bolts on the retaining strap.

Step 4: Remove the old battery from the car. Check the battery housing is nice a dry & considerably clean.

Step 5: Drop your new battery into place and pull off the red and blue plastic caps.

Step 6: Depending on how dirty your connecting rings are, you may have to give them a quick clean with your wire brush and sand paper to ensure a good electrical connection.

Step 7: Reconnect the battery by installing the positive terminal first, pushing down as far as you can, and tighten up the 10mm bolt. Note, be careful not to overtighten the bolts – a snug fit will do!

Step 8: Do the same procedure with the negative terminal, followed by reinstalling the retaining strap and tightening down the x2 10mm bolts that hold it in place. Again, don’t need to be extremely tight but just a nice pinch will do.

Step 9: Start up your car to check everything works.
